Kick Doors Open (with Gina Yashere)

Episode Summary

British-Nigerian comedian, producer, and author, Gina Yashere is in conversation with Luvvie about being disruptive by nature, refusing to take no for an answer, and how to kick open doors and create your own opportunities for success.

Episode Notes

Gina Yashere is a British-Nigerian comedian, producer, and author. She is co-creator, producer and writer on the CBS sitcom “Bob Hearts Abishola”, and is the first and only British comic to perform on Def Comedy Jam.

Luvvie and Gina have a great convo about growing up in East London, and the racism she faced. She started working at 19, as the first-ever woman engineer for OTIS, the largest elevator company in the world. She took no shit as her coworkers tried to disrespect her repeatedly. They also discuss her big comedic break, and how she had to create her own opportunities when people didn’t want to give it to her. Now, she’s living the life of her dreams in LA.
